Takhone Lodge has several committees under our Vice Chiefs, and they are a great way to get involved with the lodge! 

Here is a description of each committee organized by Vice Chief:

Website:

The Website committee updates and maintains this beautiful and amazing lodge website (totally unbiased, by the way), making sure to keep it up-to-date and user friendly. 

Skills Involved: Website Building, Graphic Design, WordPress, HTML/CSS

Publications:

Chair: Macey K. publications@oa7.org 

The Publications committee reports on Lodge events in one of the many newsletters, and makes many of the pamphlets and magazines that can be found at Takhone events. 

Skills Involved: Yearbook, Writing, Graphic Design, Logistics

Social Media:

Chair: TBD for ’24-’25

The Social Media committee is responsible for running and promoting the three Lodge social channels on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Merchandise:

The Merchandise committee is responsible for designing, ordering, and selling lodge merchandise. This includes tshirts, hats, socks, and much more! If you are looking for some lodge merchandise, and it doesn’t exist yet, join the committee and help implement your ideas!

Trading Post:

The Trading Post committee is responsible for setting up and operating the trading post at every lodge event. Whether its LLD or a weekend fellowship, there will always be a trading post set up at major lodge events. They are responsible for making and selling patches, and they bring in a large amount of profits for the lodge!

Ordeal/Elangomat

The Ordeal and Elangomat committee is a great way to help out the lodge. At all of our fellowships, we are always looking for guides to help bring in our new ordeal candidates. As an elangomat, you would participate in the ordeal with the newly elected Arrowmen, and you help bring members into our lodge. This is an extremely important and rewarding role!

Brotherhood/Nimatting

As a Nimat or member of the brotherhood committee, you would help all eligible candidates in getting their brotherhood. Either by running a brotherhood workshop, or by guiding them through the brotherhood hike and ceremony when they are ready.

Ceremonies

Ceremonies are another extremely important part of Takhone Lodge. At every fellowship, we need ceremonialists for the pre-ordeal, ordeal, and brotherhood ceremonies. They are very important to pass down the traditions of the order of the arrow.

Unit Elections:

Unit Elections are an incredibly important and rewarding part of Takhone Lodge. As a member of your chapter, or your lodge’s, Unit Elections team, you will visit many different troops, crews, or ships in your area and talk to them about the Order of the Arrow, and ultimately elect members in.

OA Representative

As an OA Rep for your unit, chapter, or the lodge, you will be coordinating with the Order of the Arrow as well as individuals in units to promote membership and activity in the Order of the Arrow in many units. OA Unit Reps are the direct bridge between our lodge and the troops, crews, and ships in our area.

Camp Promotions

One mission of the Order of the Arrow is to promote camping. As a member of the Camp Promotions committee, you will promote attendance at any of the council camps, including those at Owasippe Scout Reservation and the many opportunities offered at Camp Frank S. Betz.

Performance Measurement Program (PMP)

PMP is an extremely important part of our lodge to make sure we are successful. There are national standards to be met to be considered a high-performing or exceptional lodge, and the PMP committee helps increase the lodge’s ranking and promote internal lodge activity, including LLD attendance, renewing memberships, and much more.

Training Chairman

From LLD to NLS, there are many different trainings that are offered via the Order of the Arrow and Takhone Lodge. It is important that these trainings are successful and interesting, so as a member of the training committee you would promote training and organize lodge leadership seminars, developments, and activities.

Camp Service:

Service is another important aspect of the Order of the Arrow, and we like to give back to the council by serving our summer camps. As a member of the Camp Service committee, you will be finding projects for Arrowmen to do to help serve our councl camps in the best way possible.

Event Chairs:

Takhone Lodge hosts many events throughout the year, from smaller activities like LLD, or longer ones like the Owasippe Fellowship. Regardless, each major lodge event has an event chairman who coordinates the event. Reach out to the Vice Chief of Program if you wish to chair an event, and they will get back to you with events we need help with.
